About the Auction

Please plan to attend the Faculty Auction, sponsored by Phi Delta Phi from USC School of Law.

The auction is divided into two portions: a live auction and a silent auction.  At the live auction, the faculty and staff auction off “experiences” such as trivia night, dinners or paddle boarding on Lake Murray.  The silent auction is comprised of items that are generously donated by members of the South Carolina Business Community.  You will see anything from gift cards to to nights out on the town to concert tickets.

When: Thursday, January 28, 2014 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Where: EdVenture Children’s Museum

Who: USC Law faculty, staff, students, judges, and attorneys of the community

What: Live Auction featuring Auctioneer Joel Samuels and Silent Auction.  Heavy hors d’oeuvres and open beer & wine bar.

Casual Cocktail Attire

Tickets: $25 (01.04.16 – 01.23.16);   $30 (01.24.16 – 01.27.16);  $40 (01.28.16)

All auction proceeds are donated to the James L. Petigru Public Interest Law Society Summer Fellowship Program.  This program places law students in volunteer positions during the summer. Thus, the students gain an invaluable experience while enriching the community through charitable work.  The University of South Carolina’s Pro Bono Program is a leader in volunteer activism, and the Summer Grant Program offers students the unique opportunity to dedicate themselves to pro bono endeavors full time during the summer months.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Phi Delta Phi Chair, Nate Pierce or Director of Student Affairs, Heather Beatty.

Thank you for your support,

Battle of the Brains

Battle of the Brains – Trivia Night

Thursday, March 3

And Ringer Avni Gupta-Kagan

You (and a team of carefully selected teammates)

It’s our job to ask you questions.  It’s your job to get them right.  But now we’re all on the same playing field, and arguably, you’re better practiced at answering tough questions.  But is that practice enough?  Let’s find out, with the Trivia Master, Hunter Reed, as the arbitrator.

Five teams of up to five students may participate in trivia night, which will be held on Thursday, March 3 at the swanky Kings Grant clubhouse.  The entry fee is $150 per team.  And to make sure we have an extra advantage, we’ll also feed you and provide tasty libations.

If you think you have what it takes to be the reigning trivia champion, and all five team slots are taken, put your money where your mouth is and bid on a sixth slot in the live auction.

Turkey Call by Reid

A handmade turkey call. The call is made by Charles F. Reid, Clerk of the SC House of Representative, and adjunct professor teaching the Legislative Process class. The call will be of the traditional “friction pot call” design. The winning bidder may choose various options that are available in the production of the call, including choice of calling surface- slate, glass, or aluminum calling surface. The winning bidder may also choose from a variety of woods for the pot, including walnut, sassafras, cedar, and other woods. Mr. Reid will also manufacture two calling pegs for the winning bidder- one peg utilizing hickory wood and the second peg utilizing weather-resistant acrylic. Mr. Reid will contact the winning bidder to discuss details and make every effort to ensure production and delivery by April 1, 2016, the opening date of the spring turkey season in SC.
